The International Symposium on Turbulence in Memory of Chou Pei-Yuan's 120th anniversary of birth (IST2022) will be held (online) in Beijing, China from the 15th to the 17th of August 2022. This symposium focuses on new trend of both fundamental and applied aspects of turbulence.
The conference is hosted by the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, department of mathematics and physics of NSFC and Peking University, organized by the State Key Laboratory for Turbulence and Complex Systems.
Chou Pei-Yuan was a famous mechanist, theoretical physicist, educator and social activist, and was one of the founders of modern mechanics in China. He was mainly engaged in research of turbulence theory in fluid mechanics and gravitation theory in general relativity. Specifically, Mr. Chou was the founder of turbulence modeling theory. As the former president of Peking University, Prof. Chou had made very important contributions in organizing and leading Chinese academic activities and promoting exchanges and cooperation at home and abroad. The State Key Laboratory for Turbulence and Complex Systems was established with his active advocacy and strong support, and has become one of the international turbulence research centers after about three decades' development. The 28th of August 2022 will be Chou Pei-Yuan's 120th anniversary of birth. In memory of Prof. Chou, this special international Symposium on Turbulence is intended to bring together leading scientists, distinguished scholars and well-known researchers from universities and research laboratories around the world to discuss the state-of-the-art in theory, modelling, experiment and simulation of turbulence in single- and multi-phase flows. The aim is to promote the academic exchanges and cooperation in the research fields of turbulence and flow instabilities.
